For sale HMS Bounty Organization LLC & HMS Bounty II

History: MGM commissioned a replica of Bounty for their 1962 film, named the Bounty II. She was built from the original ship's drawings still on file in the British Admiralty archives. It was constructed in the traditional manner at Smith and Ruhland Shipyard in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. However, all the dimensions were increased by approximately one third to accommodate the large 70 mm cameras used. Though the ship was scheduled to be burned at the end of the film, Marlon Brando threatened to walk off the set, so MGM kept this vessel in service.
After filming and a worldwide promotional tour, MGM berthed the ship as a permanent tourist attraction - where she stayed until the mid-1980s. During that time MGM used the Bounty to film Yellowbeard, a 1983 comedy starring John Cleese and Madeline Kahn. In 1986 Ted Turner acquired the MGM film library and the Bounty with it. He used it to promote his enterprises, and filmed Treasure Island with Charlton Heston in 1989. In 1993, Turner donated the ship to the Fall River Chamber Foundation, which established the Tall Ship Bounty Foundation to operate the ship as an educational venture.
In February of 2001 H.M.S. Bounty was purchased from the Foundation by HMS Bounty Organization LLC. The Bounty has been leased for use in recent movies such as Sponge Bob Square Pants, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. It has also been chartered for countless specials and documentaries on TV networks such as the Discovery Channel, on a “Viva La Bam” episode on MTV and the History Channel.
Marketing Activities The vessel and organization can generate revenue from admissions to the vessel during appearances, from passage on sailing legs, from merchandise and from chartering for movies, commercials and documentaries. During her voyages The Bounty commands the highest dollar amount for Festival Bookings of any vessel, as high as $40,000 per festival. This high value stems from its international renown and attraction. She generates publicity on TV, in print and on radio everywhere she goes.
