Pure solid caustic soda appear white, block, flake, bead, easily soluble in water, can release lots of heat. in water appear alkaline, feeling creamy. soluble in ethanol and glycerol, not soluble in acetone, ether. strong corrosive, corrupt fiber, skin, glass, ceramic, etc. Uses: Synthetical detergence, textile, paper making, printing, dyeing, soap, rubber, medicine, food, etc. Food preparation Food uses of sodium hydroxide include washing or chemical peeling of fruits and vegetables, chocolate and cocoa processing, caramel coloring production, poultry scalding, soft drink processing, and thickening ice cream.
